Veterinarians

Jon Brandes, DVM

A member of AVC since 2005
Education: Bachelor degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M.
Experience: Practicing Veterinary Medicine since 1998

Dr. Brandes is from Austin, TX. He has been practicing since 1998 at the Metric location, since before it was Austin Vet Care. He has a Goldendoodle named Leo. In his free time, Dr. Brandes enjoys spending time with his family, reading, woodworking, playing the guitar and trail running.

“I enjoy working with animals because they are such unconditional givers. Also because of the joy, they bring to us, and the people that bring them in, through the bond we share with them.”

Tracy Karlinger-Smith, DVM

A member of AVC since 2008
Education: Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University – 1995
Experience: Practicing Veterinary Medicine since 1995

Dr. Tracy grew up all over the US. She has been practicing since 1995 and had her own clinic until merging into Austin Vet Care in 2008. Her pets include Snoopy Dooby Doo, a Basset Hound; Goody Guy, a domestic longhair cat; and Enzo, a Boxer. In her free time, Dr. Tracy enjoys spending time with family, travel, scrapbooking and genealogy.

“Animals add such joy to our lives. I feel privileged to get to help them (and their owners). I can’t imagine doing anything other than veterinary medicine. I know that this is what I was made to do.”

Office Team

Summer, Practice Manager

A member of AVC since 2007
Experience: In the Veterinary field since 2000

​Summer was born in Richmond, VA but she has been in Austin since Preschool. Her pets include Titan, a Pitbull; Cheech, a Chihuahua, and Trisket, a cat. In her free time, Summer enjoys spending time with her son, kayaking, and fishing.

“I enjoy working with animals because I love being able to come to work every day and help people and their pets. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!”

Adrianna, Customer Service Representative

A member of AVC since 2017
Education: Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, and currently enrolled in courses to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
Experience: In Customer Service since 2008

​Adrianna is originally from Lodi, OH and moved to Austin in 2016. She has a dog named Moose, a Dachshund mix who enjoys snuggles and snacks. In her free time, she enjoys spending time out on Lake Travis, cooking, reading, trying new restaurants, going on walkies with Moose, exploring Austin, hanging out with friends, and being outdoors as much as possible.

“I enjoy working with animals because they are such unconditional lovers. They bring such joy to people’s lives. No matter what happens during your day, you know that you can go home and your pet is going to be thrilled to see you!”

Caitlin, Customer Service Representative

Education: Degree in Pastry Arts and Restaurant Management.
Experience: In Customer Service since 2017

​Caitlin is originally from Westerville, OH. She has two Siberian Huskies, Leila and Kyra, and a German Shepherd, Guinness. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, photography, baking, and hanging out with her dogs and fiancee, Jason.

Molly, Customer Service Representative

Education: Associates Degree in Journalism, and currently working towards her BA in Mass Communications
Experience: In Customer Service since 2006

Molly is from Austin, TX. She has a Chihuahua named Jefe and a Jack Russell Terrier named Diggs. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, live music, volleyball, and reading.

“I enjoy working with animals because they are such loyal and loving creatures. I love to be able to help assist in the health and care of these special family members. The pets that come into our office always put a smile on my face, and it is a complete joy to be able to work with them every day.”

Ana, Veterinary Technician

Education: Bachelors in Animal Science
Experience: In the Veterinary field since 2002

Ana is from California. She has 2 cats that are siblings, Wilson and Cochina. She also has a 10 month old Chiweenie puppy Obi. In her free time, Ana loves the outdoors and traveling. She also enjoys movies, music, and reading books.

Amanda, Veterinary Technician

Experience: In the Veterinary field since 2005

Amanda was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and moved to the Austin area in August 2014. She has a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix named Toby, a Husky/Collie mix named Arianna, a black and white rat named Rose-Tyler, and a leopard gecko named Michelangelo. In her free time, she loves baking, dancing, spending time with her husband and her two children.

“I enjoy working with animals because it’s rewarding. It is such a wonderful opportunity to be able to assist with helping pets be happy and comfortable. At the end of the day, knowing that I’ve helped make a difference makes it all worth it, even in the challenging and sad times.”

Emily, Veterinary Technician

Education: Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology
Experience: In the Veterinary field since 2012

Emily is from Goodland, KS and grew up on a 4,000-acre buffalo/cattle ranch with many different animals! She has two dogs, Baloo and Gretchen. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cross stitching, camping, hunting, spending time with her family, riding horses, trying new food, and playing the piano.

“I enjoy working with animals because they are so loving and understanding. I enjoy the challenge to figure out what needs to be done since they can’t communicate their needs.”

Jerica, Veterinary Technician

Experience: In the Veterinary field since 2009

Jerica is from Dinuba, CA and has been working with animals on a farm or in a veterinary clinic her entire life. She has a dog named Dunder and two cats, Cooper and Beau. In her free time, Jerica enjoys hanging out with her friends, hiking, crafting, baking and spending time with family and pets.

Lacey, Veterinary Technician

Experience: Joined the Army reserves as an Animal Care Specialist in 2004

Lacey was born and raised in Austin, TX. She has an 11-year-old Border Collie, Maestro, a 7-year-old Pitbull mix, Gilly, and a 1-year-old Min Pin mix, Wags. In her free time, she enjoys sports, especially softball, hiking in the greenbelt, swimming, gardening and landscaping, carpentry, playing poker, and spending time with her family and friends.

Brenyn, Kennel Technician

Education: BS in Zoology from Oregon State University
Experience: In the Veterinary field since 2017

Brenyn is from Dallas, TX. She has two adorable dogs, Kia and Teddy. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her dogs and swim competitively.
